Who: Michelle, Ami
When: During A Houseful of Guests
Where: ...in the kitchen
Invited: Anyone who wanders in
Status: Incomplete

Michelle had only just set the basket of corn on the counter and begun rummaging for the ginormous stockpot when she heard footsteps behind her. Glancing over her shoulder, Michelle saw Ami enter the kitchen. Ami looked tense. She smiled a silent greeting and leaned against the wall, taking a deep breath and relaxing a little as she let it out.

Captain Jack Harkness

When: July 1, just after In the Rain
Status: Complete

The people of Tyria were nice enough, Jack had to admit; friendly, open, honest. But it was really starting to make him feel uncomfortable.

The next time someone offered him a bed or home for the night he felt he'd about rip their heads off.

And so he'd gone for a long, long walk.

It was there, in the middle of the road that he found one.Collapse )

15th-Apr-2007 11:34 pm - [Ami] A Medical Opinion
Writing: Fountain Pen
Who: Ami, Kayla
Where: The Clinic
When: July 1, During In the Rain
Status: Completed

While Michelle went for a jog and learned a new parlor trick, Ami woke early and escaped the house. She nudged Victor to consciousness just enough to tell him that she was going to help Kayla at the clinic, then with a shower and a quick change of clothes, Ami teleported away.

The clinic was actually a large, empty – as so many of them were – house located at the end of the block. The hospital still needed work and repair; the emergency room and one operating room were fully sterilized and prepped for an emergency but that was about all. Cleaning up bodies from the closest blocks, downtown and the hospital itself took all of two weeks.

14th-Apr-2007 11:26 pm - [Victor] A Houseful of Guests
Simon Jester Precious Metals
Who: Victor Kruger
When: July 1, shortly after In the Rain
Where: The Rowland House
Invited: Everyone in the house, folks arriving from In the Rain
Status: Complete

Victor was sitting at the piano in the front room sight-reading a concerto for piano by Mozart. He'd found the sheet music in the piano bench. The room was dark despite the hour, the sky outside dark and low, lit by occasional flashes of lightning. The only light in the room came from the lamp on the piano. The concerto wasn't as enjoyable as the ragtime he usually played but he wanted to learn something new today.

Who: Michelle Webster
When: July 1 (two weeks since the last game post)
Where: A few miles from home
Invited: Anyone

Michelle--and everyone else--had spent the last two weeks on burial detail. Xander had put his construction background to work, operating a backhoe to dig several mass graves. Then the whole community had worked together to find, collect, and dispose of all the bodies they could. It had been nasty, dirty, thoroughly unpleasant work. Michelle consoled herself with the knowledge that it could a lot worse.

Among the skills Amanda had imparted to her was a brief but unforgettable course in dealing with inconvenient dead bodies. The dead here had been dead for months, long enough to have long since passed through the most nausea-inducing state and moved on to mummification. By comparison to moving truly putrid bodies it was a cakewalk. But only by comparison.

The thunderstorm caught Michelle miles from home.Collapse )

Having a lie in wasn't typical of Ami. She rose with the rising sun and always attributed her high energy levels to the high metabolism that kept her consistently hungry and able to eat whatever she desired. Waking up with bright sunlight streaming into the warm room, her mind immediately latched upon a sense of wrongness. Victor's warm, firm body spooned up behind hers wasn't wrong so she was hard pressed to figure out what was.

Until she looked at the clock and it all became clear. It was well past nine and fast approaching ten – a definite lie in for her. Not that there weren't reasons for such. After sneaking off to make love early in the evening, she and Victor had returned to the kitchen to socialize and eat dinner. They'd kept company with their housemates and neighbors for as long as was polite, then slipped off again for a repeat performance. Two, in fact.

Simon Jester Precious Metals
Who: Michelle, Adam
When: June 17, shortly before noon
Where: Michelle's bedroom
Invited: Private
Status: Incomplete

Michelle woke slowly. The sounds of activity in the hallway outside, the occasional creak of the stairs and the distant murmur of conversation downstairs was the first thing to disturb her. Then she realized the room was warmer than usual. She was lying sprawled on the bed and she'd apparently kicked the covers off during the night. The room was much too bright too.

Michelle never sleeps late without good reason.Collapse )

Whack, thud, whack, thud, whack, thud

The ball met the racket and flew towards the wall, hit it and immediately bounced back. Rinse and repeat. It had been a while since Fuji had felt the urge to pick up his old racket and one of the well used balls from his mediocre luggage. It sort of figured that he really didn't have all that much clothes with him, but he did have some parts of his tennis equipment with him. And he hadn't even been one of the most dedicated players on the team, not by a long shot.

Still, he figured that during special circumstances, most people liked to return to that what was familiar to them, to find a sense of security, the eye of the storm so to say. For him, that security blanket was the tennis - or his photographing, but he wanted to safe his film, and develop pictures right now might just prove to be a far too great hassle - and that was the reason he had snuck out of the house half an hour ago and started to attack the wall of a nearby house, sending away balls with the ease that came from being a genius and having practiced the sport for over six years.

A thought flashed through his head; if the tennis ball split open, would half rotted matter spill from it, just as it had with the zombies' brains? Or would it be dry like the body in the store?

Maybe tennis hadn't been such a good idea after all...
